Through a wide range of courses in the area of languages , BabeliUM – Language Center of the School of Letters, Arts and Human Sciences of the University of Minho seeks to respond to the growing need for learning foreign languages , both within the University of Minho and in the surrounding community, continuing the long tradition of the School of Letters, Arts and Human Sciences. Since 2011, BabeliUM has been present on the Azurém Campus, increasing its offer in Guimarães.
BabeliUM offers high quality language courses and outstanding learning standards thanks to the high qualification and motivation of its teachers who practice innovative teaching methods in line with the demands of the job market.
BabeliUM offers courses in 8 different languages .

Occasionally there are courses in Arabic , Czech , Polish , Turkish and Portuguese Sign Language , among others.
Depending on the chosen language, you can find courses with different levels of learning (beginner, intermediate, advanced), always identified according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
The CEFR describes proficiency in a foreign language at six levels: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2, and forms the basis for the international recognition of communication skills, which greatly facilitates the mobility of students and professionals.
