Through a wide range of language courses, BabeliUM – Language Centre of the School of Letters, Arts and Human Sciences of the University of Minho seeks to answer the growing need for learning foreign languages, both within the University of Minho and the surrounding community, furthering a long tradition of the Scholl of Letters, Arts and Human Sciences. BabeliUM is now also present in the campus of Azurém, increasing its offer in Guimarães since 2011.

BabeliUM offers high quality language courses and outstanding learning standards thanks to its highly qualified and motivated teachers who practise innovative teaching methods in line with the requirements of the labour market.

COMPETENCE LEVELS IN FOREIGN LANGUAGES

BabeliUM offers courses in 8 different languages.

We occasionally offer Arabic, Czech, Polish, Turkish and Portuguese Sign language courses, amongst others….

Depending on the chosen language, you can find courses with various learning levels (beginner, intermediate, advanced), always identified according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

The CEFR describes foreign language proficiency at six levels: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2, and forms the basis for international recognition of communication skills, which greatly facilitates the mobility of students and professionals.

TRAINING PERIODS

BabeliUM – Language Center offers the following periodicity:

INTENSIVE COURSES

January/February that last 2 to 3 weeks (they take place during Winter Break)

Summer Intensive Courses that last 2 to 3 weeks (June – July)
